This is God’s meeting, it is His agenda and His program. We are all to take these courses that are being downloaded from heaven to us so that we would be able to stand the test of time.
According to the dictionary, a witness is a person who has seen or experienced an event and can provide testimony about it, usually in a legal context. As a verb, a witness means to see or experience an event.
1 John 1:1 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have gazed upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life”
One does not become a witness without a process, that is, one cannot become a witness by just professing it. Witnesses are those who have experienced, tested and can testify of the faithfulness of Him who has called us.
Acts 14:15-18[14] Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, [15] and saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: [16] who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways. [17] Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. [18] And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.”
In the scripture above, Paul was testifying this to those who were not knowledgeable. The people he was speaking to saw the miracles he wrought and wondered at what manner of man he was. When they began to worship him, Paul cried that they should not as he knew it was God's workings and understood he had limitations. He did not take the glory. Paul is an example of one who is a witness.
James 5:17-18 “Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.”
Elijah, a man of like passion, was also a witness. One cannot be a witness if he has not tasted, witnessed and allowed God. Suffering is allowing God, it is not the absence of food or clothing. We have men in the scriptures (Hebrews 11), the heroes of faith, who are witnesses. They loved not their lives unto the death, they were men and women who had infirmities but chose to allow God to model through their lives.
Our journey is a journey of faith.
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
We have an adversary who wants to cut short our journey, and he is so skillful that if we do not have a walk with the Lord, we would not be able to defeat him.
God makes use of everything in one's life on this path, hence everything that happens to us is to bring us to an end. We must be wise to know this. The Bible admonishes that we are to be wise as serpents, but gentle as doves (Matthew 10:16). This is why God is giving us knowledge that we may counter the plans of Satan.
In this path of becoming a witness, we may fall seven times but if we know whom we have believed, we will not remain there (Psalm 24:16), rather we will see it as a path to the destination. David, a witness, got it wrong at some point but he did not remain there nor allow Satan to take advantage. There are souls struggling because the devil has beaten them hands down.
We must be well armed to detect the evil one who is a predator and has come to stop our journey. He comes with wiles of self righteousness. We must be wise, Satan often corners us in the webs of destruction and tries to shut us up. Such people want to come out of the webs Satan has weaved but they cannot because they are unable to speak up due to the cloak of self righteousness that they have weaved for themselves. Satan sells the lie that when we speak up, we will destroy our reputation. He lies that there is no way out to keep men in caves, but there is freedom. The Lord is bringing us deliverance. We must know that though the righteous may fall seven times, we cannot stop but get up and continue. We must know that a witness is made, not born. Hence we should not allow Satan to keep us bound.
David cried out that he had done an evil thing and he sought for freedom. We likewise must cry out for help so that we learn how not to trust in the arm of flesh. Our race is a race of total dependence on God.
1 Samuel 2:9 “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.”
One cannot become a witness with one's brightness, there is need for brokenness to the extent where we would have no confidence in the flesh.
1 Corinthians 1:27 “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty”
God is a skillful savior, we should therefore run to Him always.
2 Samuel 1:19 “The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!”
We fall because we are not raised, we do not have substances to resist the devil. That is why we are being armed with the word to come out of the grave and know that when we fall it is part of our training to become witnesses.
We must know that God is searching for broken vessels. He is not looking for those who are bright in their own eyes.
Isaiah 66:2 “For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.”
A witness must be taken through the process. Unlike Lot who was enticed by the land with green fields, Abraham was able to make do with the portion given to him due to the installations of God's life he had, he lived the life of faith and exemplified the faithfulness of God. The Bible recorded that when Lot got to Sodom, everything there vexed his soul (Genesis 13:10-11).
We must not joke with our building, else we will be deceived. We must submit to the process and allow the Lord as He leads us. For instance, the Lord may be leading a sister to a brother but because there is nothing comely about the brother, she may refuse the Lord and decide to wait for another.
Moses, a witness, was to become the next pharaoh but he chose to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season (Hebrews 11:25).
We do not become witnesses without being tested and proven just as Jesus was tested and proven. The promises of God are passed down through obedience to His word and a people must embody it.
Some people have entangled themselves deeply with evil vices and they do not know how to come out of it, the solution is to speak up, exposing oneself. Satan likes to hide. When we speak or confess our weaknesses, our reputation may be gone, but we will be free. We must choose to not stay beaten down by the devil or continue in an entanglement or the other, but to come out of it. We must not think that there is nothing good in us as God is still interested in making us witnesses; He is aware of our situations. We must know that the Lord wants to make us witnesses and then allow His words to pierce us so that we can come out of every web that has held us.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
We must break off sin to be the person we never dreamt to be. The devil has cheated many for too long. However, We must keep repenting as the Lord is willing to make us all that He has in mind.
The Lord is counting on parents to be raised, as it is what is inside of them that they would pass to their children. Regardless of the talking and scolding, if there is no substance of the spirit in a parent, no life can be passed down to their children. God wants parents to be raised and armed with higher judgement so that a seed can be preserved unto God.
We must be deliberate in being raised, in learning the doctrine of Christ and in ways. Mothers spend a lot of time with their children and as such, they need to rise and stand in prayer against the adversary and interceed for their children, so that the adversary would not snatch them away. The adversary desires to train children. In schools, children learn of the doctrine of this world, we must therefore teach our children the doctrine of Christ so that the doctrine of the world does not take them over. Parents often pay in millions to put their children in the best schools but when it comes to God, they are indifferent.
We must not allow Satan to rob us due to our lack of sight. Even when we do not say things, our children pick our transactions. These transactions show in the way we are tailored, and this is why we must be rewired. God is counting on mothers, He wants to raise stars and witnesses but we must first become witnesses to be able to raise such.
